Simply Robotix,

February Recap: Career growth, abandoned projects and the start of Con Season!

March 2025

Lately I've been thinking about...

This month, I've done more doing than thinking which you will see as you scroll through this newsletter.

Note to self: do more thinking in March, and maybe a little less doing. 😅

When Career Growth Isn’t Upward

"I often find myself excluded from the very opportunities I’m told I need for promotion. You can imagine how frustrating that can be."

What I’m Making Right Now (And Why)

"PreCovid I decided that I wanted to make a stop motion animated short film. Things lined up when I got hired by Netflix Animation to work on a CG/stop-motion hybrid feature animated film. Production came to a halt with Covid. The movie was postponed indefinitely."

What I'm Working On Next

I'm Going To BlerDCon!

My livestream webinar from last summer (with a slight name update), From Pipeline to Premiere: Managing Indie Animated Projects, which unpacks the how independent animated projects come together, and Drawn Together: Stories Without Limits, a conversation centered on inclusive storytelling and building richer animated worlds, a new panel with some amazing friends will be a part of BlerDCon's programming THIS WEEK!

New Digital Downloads!

One thing I’ve learned from working in animation production is that most indie teams don’t struggle because of creativity. They struggle because of structure.

I created three small, practical digital downloads designed to help early-stage animatIon teams feel more organized from the start.

Nothing flashy. Just useful.

  • Animated Short Production Starter Kit
A pre-production checklist, budget template, production schedule , and festival tracker.
  • Pitch Your Project One-Page Template
A clean, professional structure to articulate your story, audience, and production snapshot.
  • Production Meeting Template Pack
Agendas, notes, task/ assignment trackers, and stakeholder update formats so meetings actually move things forward.

They’re $5-$10 each because this is about making professional structure more accessible.

If you’re developing a short (or working/volunteering with/ mentoring someone who is), these might help bring a little clarity to the process.

As always, build thoughtfully. Plan intentionally. Then animate.

There’s power in allowing yourself to be known and heard, in owning your unique story, in using your authentic voice. And there’s grace in being willing to know and hear others.

See you next month. Same place. New ideas!
