September was a packed with opportunities to connect with creative communities, celebrate culture and reflect on how consulting and advisory work can shape the future of animation.
The more that I continue to spread my wings in the consulting space, the more it is solidified to me that advising and consulting aren't just about strategy but about creating the structures that allow creative voices to shine. Whether I'm supporting indie filmmakers, guiding production pipelines or shaping how projects are shared with audiences, consulting is the foundation for long term creative impact, and I'm enjoying this space and new era for me.
Events & Panels
New York Comic Con
San Diego Comic Con AND New York Comic Con in the same year? I can't believe it myself. If you'll be at NYCC this year, please let me know.
Enongo World Premiere
Back in August, I got to attend the world premiere of Enongo. A few years ago I contributed to their crowdfunding campaign so it was truly great to be to attend this screening and see it with some of the crew.
Hispanic Heritage Month
LatinX In Animation(LiXA) Meetup + Screening
LiXA held a meetup and screened 7 short films that have been created through their Spark Grant program. This was a great opportunity to connect with their NY metropolitan area members.
New York Latino Film Festival (NYLFF)
Marvelous Gift had it NY premiere screening alongside some other "weird" short films.
Animation Recaps
Toy Story 30th Anniversary
In September Toy Story was re-released in theaters to celebrate it's 30th anniversary. One of the highlights of seeing it in theaters last month was that there was a toddler that started crying after the credits because he wanted to watch more and didn't want to leave. I think that's the real beauty of the movie theater experience.
Harlem Film Festival
I attended the Harlem Film Festival to see two short films created and produced by my peers. Below are my impressions of both films.

Kickstart Challenge Recap
I launched and wrapped up the Creative Project Kickstart Challenge with an amazing, intimate group of participants. Seeing projects come to life and helping each participant develop a plan for their project that they were confidently able to walk away with reinforced why structured guidance and accountability matter so much in the creative process.
If you were not able to participate this time around, do not worry, I'll be doing this 5 day challenge again in the new year.
September reminded me why I enjoy working at the intersection of creativity, community and consulting. Whether it's on a panel, speaking with student and early career professionals or in on-on-one sessions, I'm committed to helping people and projects not just get made, but thrive.
