A September Reset

September 2026

Everything came to a halt...

It's been about 4 months since my last newsletter. I spent many days ideating on drafting a quick update just to be like "hey, I'm here... kinda". Earlier this year my family went through a couple of emergencies, one after another. With these emergencies came a lot of grief I wasn't expecting to navigate during my favorite season. Understandably, I abandoned all of my personal projects. There are many videos I left unedited, posts and blogs left sitting in my drafts waiting to be published.

Thank you for your patience during this season, and I'm happy to be making my way back. For this newsletter, I'll be recapping a few things I've been up to this summer.

Summer Time Fun

A few highlights from the last few months

LALIFF

This year I returned to the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival for the third year in a row. I'm truly grateful to have produced another short film through LFI's Spark Grant program.

Here you can watch the trailer for our film, SPIN CYCLE: The Change We Carry

DREAMCON

This year I attended Dream Con in Houston, Texas for the first time. I was so happy to have two panels accepted into this year's programming. Both panels have been recorded, and you can expect the videos soon.

Simply Robotix, The Podcast

Will be making its return!

While on my unexpected hiatus, I thought a lot about the podcast. I miss it, I miss the conversations it cultivated, and I miss the way it made me use my brain. When I wrapped up the fourth season in 2023, I spent that summer planning and drafting episodes for season 5. I surveyed people, and before I knew it, I no longer had the bandwith to actually get the season out there.

This summer I decided to postpone that season that I had in mind and do something that would require less work upfront but would still be fun to make and listen/ watch as well.

The podcast will be back in the new year!

MAGICAL GIRL FESTIVAL

The Magical Girls Festival is the largest fan-organized event for magical girls in the United States.!

This year I'll be hosting an indie spotlight screening!

With all that being said, I'm using this month to sit with where I left off and figure out how to best pick things back up. I care more about moving forward with grace for myself than rushing to get back to the level of output I was at months ago. I'm planning on fully returning in October. I'm looking forward to it more than I can truly express.

Again, thank you for being here and for giving me the space to come back on my own timeline.
